Frederick Charles Herbert Guest
Spitfires of the Sea is a website about Coastal Forces during the Second World War, but my own personal interests in history cover a much wider range of periods. Growing up in Stonehenge World Heritage Site and working in maritime archaeology means that I have already studied everything from prehistory to the present day, both for work and for pleasure.
Earlier this year, I was asked by my parents to do some research into my great, great uncle in advance of the centenary of his death. In normal fashion, I left it quite late to finish that research, given that the centenary will be today, Saturday 3rd June. It is quite an interesting (and brief) account of finding sufficent information to piece together some clues as to his death and hopefully my parents and wider family will find it of use as they explore Arras. Perhaps a wider audience will too, so I’ve shared it here.
The Death of Frederick Charles Herbert Guest
(Note that it’s a fairly casual piece of research meant for my family).
